Spectrum Internet®, With Starting Speeds of 300 Mbps, Available Soon to Homes And Small Businesses in Previously Unserved Parts of the County

Spectrum today announced it has launched Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services to homes and small businesses in rural and previously unserved parts of Harrison County, Indiana. The announcement was made at an event in Corydon today where the company and elected officials highlighted the many benefits of Spectrum’s network expansion projects throughout the area.

The construction phase of the Harrison County project started 25 months ago, and work continues. Once complete, more than 3,700 homes and small businesses will have access to Spectrum’s high-speed internet and other connectivity services for the first time.

“Spectrum is bringing gigabit broadband to unserved communities across America through RDOF and other state and local programs such as Indiana’s Next Level Connections Grant,” said Heather Day, Area Vice President. “Our investment is making it possible to deliver the high-value broadband, mobile, TV and voice services which will soon be available in Harrison County. We are providing residents and small businesses superior connectivity at highly competitive prices, backed by a team of skilled local technicians and U.S.-based customer service.”

Spectrum’s newly constructed fiber-optic network buildout in the county is part of the company’s approximately $5 billion RDOF-related investment in unserved rural communities, which includes $1 billion won in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) RDOF auction. The company’s RDOF expansion will provide broadband access to approximately one million customer locations as estimated by the FCC across 24 states in the coming years.

Broadband Speeds up to 1 Gbps, Plus Money-Saving Mobile Options and 85,000 On Demand Choices

Spectrum Internet delivers speeds up to 1 Gbps and Advanced WiFi for both residential customers and small business clients, featuring starting speeds of 300 Mbps, with no modem fees, data caps or contracts. Spectrum Business Internet offers its clients plans with starting download speeds of 300 Mbps, with 600 Mbps and 1 Gbps options.

U.S. Rep. Erin Houchin is an avid supporter of broadband expansion to rural areas in Indiana and says today’s announcement is the result public and private cooperation.

“Through my work championing the next level connections program in the statehouse, improving broadband access in rural communities is one of my top priorities as a lawmaker in Congress. Charter’s investment and commitment to reaching unserved areas in Harrison County will help our state connect to the global economy. I will always work to support improved access to affordable and efficient broadband services for Hoosiers,” she said.

Broadband is an integral service that residents and small businesses need to thrive in the digital world according to Indiana State Sen. Gary Byrne.

“Expanding rural broadband access is critical to fostering a robust economy, supporting small businesses, expanding opportunity for students, and so much more. The ability to ‘connect’ from every home and business is needed, and Spectrum’s buildouts are delivering that reliable, high-speed access to many who did not have it before,” he said.

It takes private/public partnerships to ensure that areas like Harrison County are not left behind in the digital age according to Harrison County Commissioner Brad Wiseman.

“It is exciting to see Harrison County develop in ways that keep us connected, and Spectrum’s investments here, with support from federal and state programs, are making a positive impact already. I can’t want to see what opportunities this broadband infrastructure brings for our county,” he said.

In addition to the broadband expansion announcement, Spectrum provided the Harrison County Community Foundation with a generous donation to assist the purchase of laptop computers for graduating county high school students who are going to college.

Spectrum today announced the launch of Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services to areas of previously unserved Franklin County, Indiana. When construction is complete, more than 725 Franklin County residents and small businesses will have access to Spectrum services for the first time.

Spectrum’s newly constructed fiber-optic network buildout is part of the company’s approximately $5 billion investment in unserved rural communities, which includes more than $1 billion won in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) RDOF auction. The company’s RDOF expansion will provide broadband access to approximately 1 million customer locations as estimated by the FCC across 24 states in the coming years.

Charter Communications also presented the Franklin County Community Foundation with a $2,500 donation to launch the Spectrum Digital Literacy Scholarship Fund in support of digital literacy training through the foundation’s outreach service to students.

“Through RDOF, Spectrum is making a multiyear investment to extend gigabit broadband networks to unserved communities across America,” said Tom Yates, Vice President, Construction FO Rural Build. “Our commitment is making it possible to deliver the high-value broadband, mobile, TV and voice services now available in Franklin County. We are providing superior connectivity to local residents and small businesses at highly competitive prices, backed by an organization committed to craftsmanship and service.”

Franklin County Economic Development Director John Palmer said the county is a large county with very hilly terrain and low population density adding to the complexity of expanding Charter’s network to rural and unserved parts of the county. He applauds Charter for its efforts to meet the challenges it is facing through the construction process for the betterment of the county.

“As a result of Charter Communications/ Spectrum being awarded large areas of Franklin County in the FCC RDOF reverse auction, we will have improved high speed internet service for many of our citizens that had little hope of those connections,” Palmer said.

The Franklin County Commissioners welcome new broadband access to residents, which opens the door for student and business success in the county.

“We see the installation of high speed internet connections in the county to be a big advantage for our citizens,” said the County Commissioners. “This service is no longer a luxury, but a necessity for the success of our schools and business economy.”

Spectrum Digital Education Grants Impact Communities Across the Nation

Through February 2022, Spectrum Digital Education grants and in-kind contributions have impacted 99 nonprofit organizations and more than 95,000 people in 22 states and Washington, D.C. Nonprofit grantees have used the funding to provide computers to those without digital access and digital literacy training for older adults. Recent nonprofit grantees include Ashbury Community Services, Inc., a Cleveland, Ohio nonprofit which has used Spectrum Digital Education funding to provide educational programs to help seniors enhance their technology skills using digital devices and tools to improve their quality of life. Another grantee, Kramden Institute in Raleigh, NC, recently was awarded funding to provide basic computer training for up to 150 senior citizens giving each participant a refurbished laptop. Charter also gave $45,000 in Spectrum Digital Education funding to two Madison, WI-area nonprofits, Urban League of Greater Madison and 100 Black Men. To be eligible for a Spectrum Digital Education grant, organizations must serve communities located within Charter’s 41-state service area and have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. More information on how to apply is available here.

Spectrum Internet® with Starting Speeds of 200 Mbps To Nearly 475 Homes and Small Businesses by the End of March

Network Buildout is Part of Spectrum’s $5 Billion, Multiyear Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) Investment in Rural Broadband

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Spectrum today announced the launch of Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services to more than 100 homes and small businesses in rural and unserved parts of Posey County now and a total of nearly 475 by the end of March. Spectrum’s newly constructed fiber-optic network buildout in the county is part of the company’s approximately $5 billion investment in unserved rural communities, which includes $1.2 billion won in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) RDOF auction. The company’s RDOF expansion will provide broadband access to approximately 1 million customer locations as estimated by the FCC across 24 states in the coming years.

We are providing superior connectivity to local residents and small businesses at highly competitive prices, backed by an organization committed to craftsmanship and service.”

Ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the Best Internet Service Provider for Rural Areas in its 2021-22 ratings, Spectrum Internet also exceeded advertised download and upload speeds for all tiers measured — even during peak weeknight usage between 7 and 11 p.m. — according to the FCC’s most recent “Measuring Broadband America Fixed Broadband Report” issued in December 2021.

Spectrum Internet Assist, the company’s low-cost broadband service for qualifying families and seniors, is also available, offering 30 Mbps speeds for just $17.99 per month. All Spectrum Internet plans have no data caps, modem fees or contracts and are eligible for Affordable Connectivity Program credits for qualifying households.

US Representative Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-8) says today’s announcement will help bridge the digital divide by getting broadband access to those who can now flourish with the new connectivity.

“Far too many rural communities across Indiana’s 8th District lack the broadband internet access they need to be able to thrive in the 21st century.  Expanding broadband internet access in rural areas will allow businesses to grow, students to thrive, and communities to connect. With nearly one in five rural Americans lacking access to broadband internet service, Charter’s broadband investment will give rural Hoosiers the vital connectivity that they need,” said Dr. Bucshon.

Indiana’s Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch commends Charter’s investment to help close the digital divide in the state.

“I’ve been in public service for nearly three decades and broadband infrastructure investments are some of the most exciting opportunities for Hoosiers,” said Lt. Governor Crouch. “I applaud Charter’s rural initiative to bring high-speed internet access to residents of Posey County that do not have a connection now. This investment brings us another step closer to closing the digital divide in Indiana.”

Indiana State Senator Jim Tomes is encouraged that today’s announcement will lead to more rural broadband offerings in the Hoosier state.

“I am very excited to see the broadband expansion in Posey County. I know how beneficial this will be for our citizens, and I hope there will be more high-speed internet improvements within our state in the very near future,” he said.

In addition to her work as a legislator, Indiana State Representative Wendy McNamara (IN-76) is an educator and believes the Spectrum network will be a big advance in supporting students and teachers in the county.

“As an educator, I know the importance for students and teachers to have fast, dependable internet service to assist with homework, create virtual study groups, access educational resources and engage in distance learning when necessary. I am excited to see how Spectrum’s program will help advance classroom learning in rural areas of Southern Indiana,” Rep. McNamara said.
